My wife, Mel, and I rescue cats. So, of course, we decided to add an image of a kitty to our logo. I drew it months ago, and as we started putting our store together, I found the kitty logo and showed it to Mel. She perfected it. However, it still lacked something- it was plain.
Mel painted our bedroom a few years ago and added an initial tree carving-looking art to our wall. It was our first names joined in the middle with a heart. I suggested that we add that to the kitty. Mel vetoed it and said it would look too busy. So, I doodled again and added our first initials on each side of the heart. Mel took my doodle and ran with it, then added a background color. As we work together, our logo will evolve.
The tortie kitty on our page is Teddy Bear or Bear for short. Her mother was a neighborhood feral cat. We captured her, and she had her kittens in our garage in 2011. We found homes for some and kept Teddy Bear and her sister, Georgia. The mamma cat, Sweet Pea, stayed, still feral and unpettable. She lives with our sons, who rent our house in a kitty-human detente. Georgia is doing well and is our office desk cat, helping us edit this blog and picking out cat items for sale on this page. Bear, however, had stomatitis. Eventually, we had to put her to rest. She now lives on my desk in a little Egyptian-style urn. Because I always referred to her as my little Egyptian Goddess Kitty.
More blogs to follow. This is the start of a lifelong dream.
